Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium inducted into the TripAdvisor 'Hall of Fame'

31/05/18

Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium is proud to announce that it has been recognised as a TripAdvisor® Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame winner.  The Certificate of Excellence award celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve great reviews on TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website. The ‘Hall of Fame’ was created to honour those businesses that have earned a Certificate of Excellence for five consecutive years, with the aquarium exceeding that threshold, being awarded a coveted certificate of excellence for eight consecutive years since 2011.

"Being awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence eight years in a row and inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame’ is a true source of pride for the entire team at Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium and we’d like to thank all of our past visitors who took the time to complete a review on TripAdvisor,” said Max Gollop, owner of Lyme Regis Marine Aquarium. “There is no greater seal of approval than being recognised by one’s customers. With the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence based on customer reviews, the accolade is a remarkable vote of confidence to our business and our continued commitment to excellence. Hall of Fame is a status many in the leisure industry desire, but only a few attain.”

Heather Leisman, Vice President of Industry Marketing at TripAdvisor remarked.  “TripAdvisor is excited to announce the 2018 Certificate of Excellence Hall of Fame recipients, which have consistently received strong praise and ratings from travellers. This recognition allows us to publicly honour businesses that are actively engaging with customers and using feedback to help travellers identify and confidently book the perfect trip.”

The Certificate of Excellence accounts for the quality, quantity and recency of reviews submitted by travellers on TripAdvisor over a 12-month period. To qualify, a business must maintain an overall TripAdvisor rating of at least four out of five, have a minimum number of reviews and must have been listed on TripAdvisor for at least 12 months.

Owner Max Gollop believes the secret to the aquarium's success is the interactive element of a visit. "We constantly strive to offer a great experience for all our visitors. We differentiate ourselves from our larger aquarium counterparts by offering an interactive and tactile dimension to a visit. Not only do visitors get to see the marine life which can be found in local waters, they have the opportunity to hold a starfish in the palm of their hand and have their photo taken while being up close with a giant lobster or crab. Our mullet feeding experience is truly unique where visitors lower their clenched hand containing food into a large tank of grey mullet, then marvel as these wonderfully tame creatures gently suck and 'kiss' as they take food directly from the hand. We also go that extra mile to make all visitors feel welcome and provide a personal service with either myself or one of my knowledgeable staff being available to answer any questions and give further insight into the creatures on display".
